Arnold Civil War Letters

This collection contains letters from John L. Arnold, who served in Company E of the 97th New York Regiment in the Union Army, written during the United States Civil War. He was discharged as a captain in 1864.

This small collection contains minutes of the district council and memorabilia of Mr. Bowles.

Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers

The Brotherhood of  Locomotive Engineers was organized on May 8, 1863 in Detroit, MI.  The organization was fraternal in nature and only open to locomotive engineers; locomotive firemen and other railroad employees formed their own organizations.

Carter Collection

This collection consists mainly of the photography and personal papers of Oscar W. Carter.  Carter was a photographer who also traveled the area of Marionville, Missouri, with his "Silent Picture Show" in the early 1900s. He later built The Electric Theatre in Crane, Missouri.

The collections represent archival material from Meyer Library's Special Collections and Archives, as well as from partner institutions, such as Missouri State University - West Plains, Springfield-Greene County's History Museum on the Square, the city of El Dorado Springs, and more.

Domino Danzero Photograph Collection

Digitized by the Missouri State Archives and hosted on Missouri Digital Heritage. The Danzero Collection consists of approximately 2,000 images by Springfield businessman Domino Danzero (1871-1952). See the finding aid to learn more about the entire collection.

Barrows Family Collection

Digitized by the Springfield-Greene County Library for their Community and Conflict website about the Civil War. Hosted on Missouri Digital Heritage. The full collection primarily consists of correspondence of Freeman Barrows and his family. In 1838, Barrows settled in the area that is now known as Bates County, near Papinsville, Missouri.
