The War Memorial Album was completed and formally dedicated in 1955. That year also marked the dedication of the new library (now Cheek Hall) and the MSU Golden Anniversary Celebration. The album itself contains photographs and biographies of 93 students and alumni who lost their lives in World Wars I and II and the Korean Conflict. The War Memorial Album Collection contains information about each of these students and alumni, as well as SpringfieldLeader and Press newspaper articles about other soldiers from the Ozarks.
This information was gathered primarily by Dr. Anna Lou Blair. Dr. Blair was a member of the Southwest Missouri State College faculty for 49 years, 14 of which she spent as the head of the Foreign Language Department. She retired in 1957 and passed away in 1965 at the age of 81.
The bulk of the collection contains biographical information of individuals included in the album. There are also alphabetized newspaper articles about other Ozarks soldiers who were not included in the album.
The War Memorial Album is on display for viewing in the Reading Room of the Special Collections and Archives Department.
